Cabin dcor in the old days might have been the roughly made pieces your grand pa might have had in his cabin, but that is not the same log furniture that you can buy today. Rustic furniture that you can buy now has an elegance of it’s own that has a style that is not replicated in any other kind of furnishings.

When pioneers first began settling remote areas, they had to fell their own trees to build their little cabins and they had to build their own furniture if they wanted tables, chairs and beds. The logs were often used whenever they could be in their natural round form because it took so long to plane wood when it was sawed into slabs. The more meticulous settlers might take the time to craft fancier furniture pieces, but more often than not it had a very rustic look. It took all the time they had just trying to stay warm in the winter and keep enough food in the house.

People back in those days got pretty good at crafting their own furniture with what they had available and today is made in with much the same materials as they used them with a few improvements of course. Now even people that don’t necessarily have a log home or cabin will still choose to decorate a room or two in a rustic style using log furniture just because it is so uniquely beautiful and it is not something that you see in a home everyday.

You can find any piece of furniture that you will need to complete your rustic cabin dcor. There are log beds, of course, made from ash, pine, hickory or cedar logs.
